Too Private For Government

The issue of abortion has always confused me. I knew I was pro-choice, agreeing that abortion should be legal, but something kept confusing me, holding me back in a way, and Reversing Roe finally cleared that up. The confusion I felt was with the involvement of the government in this affair. I believe that government should not be involved, whatsoever, in the issue of abortion. Many people who are pro-choice, however, argue that same point but support the federal funding for abortion clinics. In my opinion, the government should not be able to make any kinds of decisions on such a personal matter like abortion which includes funding for the clinics. I think people should be able to choice where their money goes, and if people don’t support abortion, they should not have to pay for it through taxes. That also mean that if people who do strongly support a woman’s right to chose, should be able to help fund abortion clinics. There are many generous people in America and many success fund raising tactics, that if abortion clinics were defunded by the federal government, women who are short on money, will not be disadvantaged with a privately owned non-profit clinic. Right now, Roe vs Wade allows people to choose yet taxpayers’ money is used to fund private organizations like Planned parenthood. Planned parenthood is a private, non- profit business and deserves to function as such. I believe we should let it live on its own earnings and raise funds via donations because it is not a public organization that requires taxpayers to support it, like schools, police and army.
The other issue is the late term abortion. Obviously, at least in my opinion, if a baby is able to live outside the womb (whether expelled by the woman’s body or otherwise) it should be illegal to abort it.

Abortion is clearly a matter between a woman and her doctor. Politics should not be involved in it and neither should the government.
