Abortion Rights

Ah, abortion- One of the world's most controversial topics...the United States is in a knot. That being said, the film assigned to us this week was shockingly biased towards the pro-choice movement. Personally, I am pro-choice. I am pro-choice for the following reasons: Women should have every right to their bodies (your body, your choice). Financial struggles that will not support another life in the household. And lastly, for any sexual assault outcomes. However, I do see a side of the pro-life movement that is a pretty substantial portion of the entire topic which is: God put a living being in someone for a reason. God chose that person to give birth or to make the decision to not continue a pregnancy. I do think about the "life that could've been," because I think about a future to anything that breathes. I do believe that everyone is put here for a reason, whether it's a god or any other belief.

The film started off by diving into the pro-choice side. The director chose to explain the pro-life side and point of view from people who fall into that category.  However, there were also slips of the aggressors of the movement. For example, those who stand outside of the abortion clinics yelling cruel things at he women walking in. When it got to explaining the pro-choice side, the director highlighted it's glory. Even though I am pro-choice, I feel that everyone should believe what they want without delusionary persuasion. In my opinion, the title "Reversing Roe," is not suitable for this film because it mainly illuminates the pro-choice movement rather than diving deeper into the reasons behind the pro-life movement.

As for the media, it is important to have a voice and share your values /morals. However, when the word gets a bit more aggressive and the banter seems to be more persuasive rather than conversational or educational, that is when problems will surface. And regarding the United States Constitution and the infamous Roe v. Wade case, the outcome allowed for Women to be gained the right to end pregnancies, while states gained the right to restrict abortions. As a woman, I proud to say that women are granted the right to abortion in the United States and it shows that we are the bosses of our own bodies.
