Roe V. Wade

I have heard what Roe v. Wade was and how it was the case talking about abortion and if it is something that every women should be entitled to but I had never learned about it in depth. Roe v. Wade is more than abortion along with Skinner vs Oklahoma and Griswold vs Connecticut are about giving people especially women the right to privacy and giving them the option to do what they want with their bodies. Mr. Doggett's comparison to "Going out and smoking a pack of camels and having nine beers" is something that legitimized in my mind the argument that it is their bodies and the government shouldn't have say in that. Also brings up that these cases made massive strides in the right to privacy with the fact that contraception is something that those should have the right to obtain. Whether it is a married couple or a single mom that can't sustain a child the government shouldn't get a say in what goes on in the bedroom.
Norma McCorvey also known as Jane Roe is not someone who all would stand behind in order to stand up to the government about such an issue but that is exactly why it made such an impact. She had a very difficult time taking care of herself and then when a child comes around she isn't able to care for it. If her or any women isn't fit to take care of the child then I think it is a time that abortion is appropriate. I disagree with abortions that are in the third or even second trimester unless of course the women's life would be in danger to keep the baby. This is the "undo burden" that was explained in class that if the women isn't qualified or even ready for the child then I think they should have the right to an abortion. Although if a women is not ready for a child then they should make sure that they are using the correct tools not to become pregnant and of course the male as well because it takes two to make a child. All women have the right to do what they'd like with their bodies and if that means to have a child then that is what they would like to do and if it is that they are not ready for the child then they should be able to get an abortion. It comes back to the right of privacy and that it is their bodies and it is their lives and the government cannot control that because that is overstepping their boundaries which is not new to them. The right of privacy is a very interesting topic and I think could become even more interesting as technology is started to be looked into more. Every women has the right to do what they would like with their bodies as they please and the government does not get a say in that.
