Women are the reason our society continues to grow and mature yet we are never given a point of gratitude or appreciation. Women have long done unpaid domestic work like cooking, cleaning, taking care of children, and taking care of other adults in their lives. Although this work is vital for families, it's often ignored in economic and social talks. The work done by “caring” mothers and grandmothers is unpaid and unrecognized labor.
Women are often asked to remove themselves from the workforce to engage in maternal expectations. And although they are relieving themselves of the burdens of a 9-5 they enter a job force that is 24-7 for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, although motherhood is glamorized by some and appreciated by many, it is not valued. The invisible woman is one who works for others and never for herself. This is not by choice but by chance, yet the chance is forced by society. A woman's strength can not go unrecognized but will go unappreciated. This is what creates the invisible women.
As seen in the presentation and our day-to-day women are not only expected to be caregivers but to also present themselves in a certain way. Femininity is an issue beyond being invisible women. It is an issue for all women. The beauty expectations, the presentation, and the delivery. Our tone, message, and voices are limited to our surroundings and that is another issue in modern society that is swept under the rug. Women are to be heard and not seen making us all invisible women, but because we are not all mothers or caregivers we can not yet join the conversation.
