The Guerilla Girls art has a huge impact on the art community. In my opinion, they are forcing a change through their narrative. The Guerilla Girls expose the truth about racial ethics and gender biases through their art. They are an anonymous group of women ranging from all ages. They have been putting their art all over the world. They fight for human rights and their art shows. The Guerilla Girls' motto is “Do one thing. If it works, do another. If it doesn’t, do another anyway. Keep chipping away!” Although their art is not featured in any big museum I think their impact still holds a lot of weight in their community. Most museums are male-dominated, there are significantly fewer women artists than male artists hanging up in these spaces. The Guerilla Girls use their platform to speak up against what is really going on. For example one of their most famous works of art says “Less than 5% of the artists in the Modern Art Sections are women, but 58% of nudes are female.” This shows that many art museums are not appreciative of women’s art but are more appreciative of their bodies. They use the bodies as art but do not credit the female artists throughout these museums. Personally, I feel that the Guerilla Girls' work is very important and contributes to society in many different ways. First, they have a unique style of art with their own custom screen printing, this allows them to express their creativity to show people in society a different and more original version of art. Second, their art displays unique images that draw attention to their causes. They also provide many different statistics on all their works of art to prove their point with evidence. Guerilla Girls use very disruptive headlines to draw attention to their work I believe this is a smart tactic. Drawing attention with their art will draw attention to the causes they are trying to support and explain. Although their very creative artwork is not included in major art museums I think the art they show to the public still has impact on everyone else. The work of the Guerilla Girls has been going on for 35 years and they are still fighting for female art representation. They have the attention of many people now I think it is time for the major museums to recognize these statics and support female artists.
